Trailer assembly for DHL
KVM is again building Semi Trailers. This time we are working with DHL to re-build trailers which are at their life end in Europe, while they still have a full life span here in Africa! We are using our CKD Semi Trailer skills to production line the process of having these ready for the roads of Kenya.
These
trailers use a modern tyre and rim which is wider than our Kenyan
counterparts, with only one wheel being needed per side, as opposed to
the norm here which is two per side. It will be interesting to see how
they bear up under local terrain and conditions.
We
believe that this contract both supplies DHL with a well formed
product, and at the same time employs Kenyans in at least part of the
development of the product.

First Hyundai HD Series truck built in kenya
It’s barely a year ago when CICA Motors launched Hyundai HD
Series at the National Museum in Nairobi.

The 28th March 2011 was
big day for KVM, CICA and Hyundai as they launched the first fleet of the Hyundai
HD series trucks built in Kenya.

The popping of
champagne marked the beginning of long term business partnership among the
companies. CICA motors group need not to import these trucks anymore since they
will be assembled locally at KVM, cutting on the cost of importing the products
and the risks the trucks are exposed to during importation without reducing the
quality of the product.

The HD series will now be assembled at KVM after hands on
training session for the KVM assembly team. The Korean team has been camping at
KVM working hand in hand with the KVM assembly team to produce the trucks.

“If this works out, we will see Hyundai introducing other models of trucks
for assembly here in KVM in the near future” said KVM managing director. “The Motor
market in East Africa is maturing and demand is rising. This attracts the international
investors to focus on the potential of the African market” he continued.
